So why exactly is safety clothing important?  The answer is simple – it can save your life or protect you from serious injury.  Safety clothing is designed with specific aims in mind – for instance, reflector strips are used to make the wearer visible to traffic, pedestrians, and drivers of heavy machinery.  Steel-capped boots are designed to protect the feet of people who work on building sites or in heavy industry.  Various grades of gloves are designed for protection against cuts, abrasions, wear and tear, splinters, and even heat or cold.  Hard hats are absolutely vital for anyone that works in or around a site that is unstable, likewise for anyone employed in a factory or plant with people working overhead.  While having to wear so much gear can become cumbersome or frustrating, the damage that could be done if you were to have an accident whilst not wearing the clothing is significant enough to warrant the extra effort.
